For Sale: Jaguar 2000 XKR Convertible
| |
Letting go of my XKR. Rather than listing the amenities to folks who really know and appreciate Jag’s I’ll stick to this cars condition. I would prefer having this car go to someone who knows and can appreciate Jaguars. I was a club member years ago when I had my 1967 E type.
Paint, Anthracite Pearl, black interior, and top are 98pts. Mechanically sound, since owning it from December 2017 (bought it from my neighbor who stored it for over a decade); I’ve had it maintained initially by BBC in San Diego (as did the previous owner) and later by Coventry Cars of SD (all receipts). No engine repairs in its 69200 miles with exception of updated timing chain tensioners. As you can see in the maintence and repair record I’ve changed the coils a couple times due to initial coils (when I bought it) were “after market” and failed a few times. I drive the car as you know what occurs if you just look at it for years. Front suspension rebuilt (known for sagging), Almost every hose replaced, (the ones you can’t get to without labor hours) from aging, complete coils plugs fuel pumps and total engine harness wiring (having to remove the supercharger). The detailed spread sheet lists all maintence and repairs (and have all receipts) also original window sticker and all manuals.
This car needs nothing. Perhaps in the next 3-5K miles, front brakes.
Model year 2000, the supercharged version of the XK8 the Jaguar XKR. With a 4.0-liter V-8 and Eaton Roots-style blower. An automatic only available gearbox, but it is a Mercedes-built 5-speed unit rather than the ZF gearbox in the XK8 due to the additional torque from the supercharged version.
I have a lot of pictures and videos (cold start, top, driving and acceleration) but I’m in San Diego so the car can be seen just as easy.
I found an interesting YouTube video on XK8 and XKR’s. I think I have to agree with what he is saying, quite unbiased actually.

Sale: 1971 Daimler
Limousine DS 420

1971 Daimler Limousine DS 420
This 1971 Daimler Limousine was purchased from the San Diego Automotive Museum in 2015,
and has had many upgrades to the engine since its purchase. The original engine was replaced with a Chevy Small block engine sometime in the late 70s. Right hand drive, perfect leather interior, all period chrome features, 3 speed automatic, 4 wheel disc brakes, minimal rust. Seats six passengers with the jump seat.
This is my late husband’s car which he drove weekly both locally and to Los Angeles, until he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2018. In the years that he owned it he had improvements done by a Jaguar specialist, such as new brakes, transmission, fuel lines, water pump and radiator. I have all the paperwork pertaining to the extensive work. It has been stored in a garage since 2018 and I recently had a tune up and inspection at Mel’s Auto Repair.
My husband was a member of the San Diego Jaguar Club, and he drove this car to many events. I am looking for someone who will care for this unique and special car as much as he did.
Asking $20,000. Registered PNO. If interested, contact Joyce (joyce@costinet.org or 760 271 7686) to arrange viewing in San Marcos, CA.
Here is more information about the 1971 Daimler Limousine:
If any model can claim the appellation of "Royal", it is the Daimler DS420. It highlights the special significance of this model that it is still in use by the courts of the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, and Luxembourg, despite its production having ended more than a quarter of a century ago and despite the discontinuation of the Daimler marque since 2008. Only 4141 were ever produced.

For
Sale: 1966 Jaguar E-Type OTS
I purchased this car in June 2021 from the widow of a gentleman who had owned it for 53 years. It had 19,878 miles on it at that time. There is a photo I have included that shows his handwritten documentation of oil changes from 11/27/1988 at 6300 miles to 10/13/2000 at 17,000 miles. The car currently has 20,010 miles on it.
The E-Type had been parked in their garage for over 15 years and needed a complete restoration. I started on it in June 2021 and completed it in July of 2023.
The photos show the work that was done, including a completely new interior, new top, new shocks, all oil seals and bearings on the suspension, rebuilt carbs and many more items too numerous to mention here. It has 5 new Dayton wire wheels and 5 new 205/15 tires. I have an Excel spreadsheet of every item that was replaced if you’re interested. I also have the before photos if anyone is interested.
It has a complete tool kit, new hammer, jack and bag, service manuals and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate that goes with the car. The blue E JAG 66 license plate can go with the car if you’re interested.
The original color of the E-Type was Opalescent Maroon. It was repainted Ferrari Red at some point, but the widow had no documentation on where or when it was done. I will say it is a very good paint job. Other than having some minor dent removal done, I haven’t had to spend much time on the paint.
The engine compression was good at: 1= 155 psi, 2= 150 psi, 3= 150 psi, 4= 155 psi, 5= 155 psi, and 6= 150 psi. With this compression and the low miles, I decided not to tear the engine down and rebuild it.
For the purest out there, this is not the original engine according to the Heritage Certificate. This car was dispatched on March 31, 1966, with engine number 7E 8332-9. The engine number in the car is 7E 10044-9 or 1,712 engines later with a date code on the block of 9-8-66. I could find no history as to why this car had an engine built 6 months later.
Basically, I have cleaned every nut ,bolt and screw on this car along with all the components that make up this E-Type. I enjoy bringing old cars back to life, doing research, find parts, and seeing the car come back to life. I’ve had my enjoyment with the car and now it’s time for the next owner to drive it and enjoy the ride.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
¨ This vehicle was bought new in California. I am the fourth owner and knew the previous three owners. I took ownership about in 2012. The car has always been driven in California and almost always garaged. Title is clean.
¨ There is no known rust or corrosion on this vehicle. There has been some previous minor dent repair, but the paint (except dented spots) and panels are all original.
¨ The convertible top has been replaced once about 10 years ago and appears to have many good years left. It does need some minor repair near the rear window. The mechanism works perfectly. There are no leaks.
¨ The vehicle has been maintained at an above average level with washing and polishing, often fluid changes as well as mechanical items.
o The transmission was overhauled around 90,000. It works perfectly.
o The head was removed about 10,000 miles ago and a complete head remanufacture was preformed, due to a bad valve guide and oil burning at the time. During this process, I had the timing chain and all related items replaced, along with all top-end gaskets, hoses and other incidentals. I also had all four wheels aligned and the vehicle thoroughly examined. While the head was off, the cylinders still had clearly visible honing marks and there was no visible wall wear due to piston ring(s) action. Also, the entire fuel system was cleaned and overhauled along with a new electric fuel pump and filters.
o The wheels are currently non-stock.
o All six gas shocks have been replaced with KYB.
o The stereo is a non-factory. The original 6-Disc CD player in the trunk has been removed (I still have).
o Front struts have been replaced within the last 10,000 miles using KYB gas up front and rear shocks.
o The car always starts immediately and runs perfectly smooth. There are no known issues.
o Braking is also perfect – straight and immediate.
o New trunk and hood struts were installed fairly recently.
¨ There are two negative things to report:
o Presently, the air conditioning does not function. I do believe it is a simple matter to correct and make functional. We suspect it is something of an electrical connection under the dash. Rough est. about $1,000 to fix.
o The upholstery needs re-doing. Especially the two seats and carpeting. I have had a local custom upholsterer quote me $2,600 to do in leather. Lesser, pre-made replacement covers can be bought and installed for around $1,000 total.

For Sale: Jaguar 2000 S-Type V6 3.0
FOR SALE
JAGUAR S-TYPE 3.0 V6
56,000 MILES FROM NEW
& ONE FAMILY FROM NEW
This JAG has only 56,000 miles from new and was owned from new / since 2000 by our Great-Aunt (who sadly passed last year at the age of 95). This car has always been garaged and has been a Southern California car all its life (Hollywood, to be precise – and now Palm Springs).
Since we have owned this lovely car, we have spent circa $2,000 on new parts and servicing, including brand new tires, a new throttle-body, new fluids (new oil & filter, new transmission fluid and new coolant etc).
As you'll note, the car is a beautiful, mid-blue metallic colour and is complemented by a grey leather and walnut wood interior. The car also has the factory option of premium, chromed, alloy wheels.
We are only selling as my wife recently bought a brand-new car and so the Jaguar is now surplus to requirements. We are looking to find a good British car enthusiast home for her and she'll make the perfect, ‘modern classic’ / ‘everyday classic’ to accompany your 1960s or 1970s Jag or other British, classic car.
We recently drove 'her' from Palm Springs to 'The Queen's English' show in LA / Van Nuys (and back). She performed beautifully, with a rock-steady temperature gauge (at dead-center) and was surprisingly economical.
The only minus points are that the rear headlining was sagging – typical Jag issue – and has now been partially removed (the front is fine, but the full headlining ought to be replaced at some stage and to do her justice) and there is a small patch where the clear-coat is oxidizing on the trunk lid (near the base of the rear screen), with two similar, even smaller patches near the sunroof.
‘She’ is currently up for sale elsewhere for $6,450, but …
.. SPECIAL SAN DIEGO JAGUAR CLUB PRICE /
BRITISH CAR ENTHUSIAST PRICE IS $4,450 …
.. so grab yourself a bargain.

Supercharged 2003 Jaguar XK-R Convertible
The Jaguar XK-8 model was first introduced in 1996. The Supercharged XK-R version was released in 1998.
In 2003, the original 4.0 Liter, V-8 (which had been prone to problems due to the plastic tensioners used in their timing chains) was replaced with Jaguars most powerful series production engine of its’ time, their extremely reliable 4.2 Liter V8, which delivered an additional 20hp over its’ predecessor, and was paired with a six-speed “J-Gate” automatic transmission. The engine is rated at 390 horsepower and goes 0-60mph in just 5.2 seconds.
In 2006 Jaguar launched the second generation of XK’s, reshaping many elements of its original design, and also changing from a steel-body to an aluminum-body form. It is for these reasons that many Jaguar collectors and enthusiasts find the first generations’ 2003 through 2005 to be the most desirable of years for the XK-R, and many feel, the most stylish…
This 2003 XK-R convertible has only 48k CA miles and has always been garaged.
It was ordered new by a Marin County doctor with almost every upgrade available, and with a build sheet price of over $90k. The Dr. sparingly used the car for 15 years, accumulating only 23k miles. He then sold it to an engineer (mutual) friend, who added 25k additional miles over the past 5 years. When I learned he was trading it in for a new car, knowing the cars’ history, I purchased it in November. Now, the wife decided she does not want another convertible (I have 2), so, it’s for sale! My other one is the pristine, regularly driven, 1955 Red Thunderbird, so, what can I say, I have always been a “car guy”, and belong to the Classic Thunderbirds of San Diego Club.
The vehicle was always maintained, throughout its ownership, by the Jaguar Dealer, Marin Luxury Cars, and was checked over upon purchase in November by Coventry Cars of San Diego. A complete brake job with new rotors and pads (over $2k) was just completed in preparation for this sale, and CA registration is now paid through Dec 2024.
The car is finished in Platinum over a charcoal leather upholstery, and features burled wood trim. It includes an automatic power-retractable black convertible top, xenon headlights, fog lights, functional hood vents, 20″ BBS Montreal alloy wheels, Brembo’s Big Brakes Package with silver calipers, heated seats, navigation, adaptive cruise control, a 320-watt, 8-speaker Alpine stereo with a trunk mounted 6-CD changer, and automatic lights, wipers, headlight washers, and climate control.
The stunning $3,500 20″ BBS alloy wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle tires measuring 255/35 up front, and new wide-stance 285/30’s on the rear. Included are all original Jaguar owners’ manuals and guides, as well as service history records from the dealership.
This was the Supercar of its time, and why it was selected, and why you can see it being driven hard, as it was featured in the 2002 James Bond 007 film “Die Another Day”, driving on ice (by the villain Zao).
